It's always the season for vampires. Learn how you can make anyone into a vampire with just a few easy steps.

We’re going to make this man into a vampire.

First thing is first.  Duplicate the man’s picture in the Layers window and only work off of the top layer with him on it.  We do this now incase we mess it up later, making it easier to correct what we’ve wronged.

We’ll start altering him by making his eyes more pale.

Select the Dodge Tool and change the Exposure to about 20%.  Select a Soft Round brush and make it smaller than the space around the pupil.  Click and drag the cursor around a several times to get the desired pale-eyes-effect.

Use the Burn tool with a 7% exposure and give him some sunken eyes.  Emphasize the inside and under the eyes especially.  Add some above the eyes too, to make it blend better.

That was easy! Now onto the teeth.

Create the fangs on a new layer.

Use either the Pen Tool or one of the Lasso Tools if you have a steady hand and draw in some pointy teeth.  Fill them with a color selected from the tooth using the Eyedropper Tool. Make sure you make the right ones into fangs!  You could even make them all into fangs if you wanted, but we’re just doing the traditional two-fang vampire.

Make sure you’ve deselected the fangs. Use the Eraser, with a small Soft Round brush and 100% opacity.  Carefully smooth out the teeth a little to make a better transition.  Up the size of the brush on the Eraser and lower the opacity to 50% and erase a little of the top part of the fangs, smoothing the colors into one another.  Now they are blended nicely.

Select the man’s picture again.

Using the Burn tool, select one of the Charcoal brushes and change the exposure to about 7%.  Scale the brush down quite a bit and start darkening in between the teeth.

Create a new layer over top of the fangs’ layer.  Select a yellow color, and using a paint brush color over the teeth.  Change the blending option for the yellow layer to Multiply and the Layer Opacity to 25%.  Now take your eraser with a low opacity, erase parts of the yellow on the teeth, so he gets some gross buildup in his teeth.

Adjust the Hue/Saturation (CTRL+U) and change the Hue so the yellowy color becomes a little more reddish-orangish, and lower the Saturation just a bit.

Now to make him pale!

Select the Photo layer.  Using the Sponge Tool, with a Mode of Desaturate, and a Flow of 50%, go over his picture to lift some of the color out of it.  Don’t overdo it, it’s okay if he still has a little color.

Using the Burn tool again, with a charcoal brush, various sizes, and add some darker areas on his face, like he’s gotten dirty or his skin is starting to go bad or something.

Add a new layer above the teeth layers.  Select the Paint Brush, a brown-orange-red color, a charcoal brush, and an opacity of 20%.  Every time you apply this brush it’s going to overlap the previous strokes you’ve made, so he conscious of that as you’re adding this part.

We’re adding blood stains to his mouth. Think about what it might look like as you’re adding the color.

Once you’ve got the shape and color where you want it, change the blending option to Overlay.

Repeat this step for another layer over the teeth, only this one is for the teeth.  Go just slightly redder on this one.  Add some color to the fang tips, and in between a few teeth.

Change the blending option to Overlay.  Then, adjust the Hue/Saturation CTRL+U, making Hue a little more orangey, and the Saturation a little lower.  Think dried blood.

If you feel like it needs it, go back to the layer where the dried blood is on his chin, and add some to his upper lip as well.  He can’t be too tidy of an eater if he’s got blood stains on his chin.  Might as well spread the love.

And we’re done!  He is officially a vampire. Click his picture to see a more detailed version.
