What's more fun than setting yourself on fire? Making it look like you've set yourself on fire. Or you can do it to another person either way. Ok, first we need to find a good picture where flames might be present. Let's use someone grilling, so this guy will do.


Your first step is to find a good flame brush, and there are plenty out there. So, when you find one let's create our first flame. Set the foreground color to #D5500F. You want the size of the flame to reach towards the top of the grill..


Now, take your brush again and set the foreground color to B42D0C. Make a few spots inside the flame this color to really bring it out. Now set this Layer Adjustment >> Color Balance



Now, take your eraser tool and set the opacity to 50%. Run it along the bottom of the flame so it doesn't look like it's sitting on top of the grill. Your first flame should look like this..



Now we're going to create our second flame. Find a bigger flame brush and set it to the right of the flame we just finished. Fill it in with the colors we used prior. You should have overlap where the spatula is. I prefer to trace around the spatula, and delete the flame layer. You should be left with this...



Then add the color balance here...



Grab your eraser tool again, and set the opacity to 50%. Like we did with the first flame, erase the bottom portion of the flame to give it a blending effect. You should have something like this now...



Now the fun part, we get to set him on fire. We need to find us a good charcoal skin, so I landed on this picture. Creepy I know, but it works



We're going to isolate the burn on her cheek as it looks really bad. Grab your polygon lasso tool and trace around the burn..



Drag it over to the man's forearm, and rest it like so..


Grab the Clone Stamp tool and use the surrounding skin. Then on the very edges of the burnt skin blend it. Grab ya another flame brush and set it atop the skin. You can use one of the previous color balances if you wish. You should be left with this...


Don't worry, he's smiling now but once he looks down that spatula will go flying.
